Joseff is a practicing barrister specialising in family law. Joseff is originally from Llandovery and went to university at Loughborough University studying English, graduating with First Class Hons. Joseff went on to complete the Bar Professional Training Course at Cardiff Law School before joining 9 Park Place Chambers in 2017. Holly Taylor

Holly has advised multiple Members of Parliament and Senedd Members at both Westminster and in Cardiff Bay including providing research support to a Senior Member of the Home Affairs Select Committee on policing and immigration policy. Holly was Policy and Research Officer to the Police and Crime Commissioner for South Wales before moving to work on partnership projects including creating a trauma informed approach in the policing and criminal justice arena through understanding the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Kate Toner-Bass

Kate is a practising solicitor advising on a number of non-contentious private client matters. Kate obtained an LLB Law with Criminology from the University of Sheffield before moving home to complete her Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University. Kate is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), a globally recognised organisation and a qualification that few hold. As part of her STEP qualification she studied Charity Law and decided to join the board of Asylum Justice after learning about the work it undertakes.

Tom Godwin

Tom Godwin has held various roles in community organising, electoral organising, political communications, local government, and trade union organising since 2014. He has an MA in International Relations and first met people in the asylum system as a volunteer in Liverpool, providing basic support to people entering the asylum system, running English classes and setting up Liverpool’s City of Sanctuary (COS) campaign group in 2013. It was here that he first experienced the kind of life-saving legal advice and support provided by legal advocates such as Asylum Justice.

Mark Baker

Mark currently works as Head of Risk for Lloyds Banking Group’s Customer Service Division. He graduated in Economics and Accounting from the University of Bristol is 1989 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant 3 years later. Mark is able to use his financial and risk management skills to support Asylum Justice, and is a member of the governance sub-committee.

Victoria Goodban

Vicky has a background working on refugee rights in Wales and internationally. During 8 years with Oxfam, Vicky developed anti-poverty programmes supporting refugee women and was an early contributor to both Cardiff and Swansea City of Sanctuary groups. She subsequently moved into international humanitarian work – in policy/advocacy roles for the Rohingya refugee response and the Syrian refugee crisis in Jordan, and then as a protection officer for the International Organisation for Migration in Afghanistan. Emmy Chater

Emmy arrived in the UK in 1999 from the Netherlands. In 2001 she started working for a local authority in various roles supporting asylum seekers and refugees. During this period, she obtained an Advanced Certificate in counselling and a BA Hons in Social Work; she has been a registered Social Worker since. As a volunteer and secretary for Newport & District Refugee Support Group, Emmy helped to host Asylum Justice surgeries during drop-in sessions.
